The United States of America must, once again, become the Mecca of higher education for Floridians by removing barriers to university and college education. The State of Florida has a State University System consisting of 12 university institutions; a State College System consisting of 28 colleges and many private universities and colleges that educate and develop skills of future employers, employees, educators and entrepreneurs.

Reginald would:

• Increase funding for the U.S. Department of Education to award more federal grants;
• Reduce eligibility requirements for federal grants;
• Increase U.S. Department of Education funding to purchase high interest rate, private sector student loans and halt the accrual of interest rates during deferments; and
• Encourage individuals, foundations and corporations to provide more private scholarships to college students.
